The Angel of the North

The Angel of the North is a sculpture that is situated near Newcastle on the A1 on the site of an old mine.  It is very dramatic and appealing.  It is enormous and dramatic yet not overawing - it draws people to look at it and touch it.  It is made from steel and is a burnished brown colour.  We sometimes stop to stand and stare at it when we are on the way to Gateshead, we've even stopped on the way back from Newcastle at 2am.
